Sacred Harbor is a Protestant forum but does not restrict membership to Protestants only. Devotion to Christ and His unique role as the Only Savior is the underlying belief that welcomes believers here.
We ascribe to the beliefs of the Apostles and Nicene creeds as fundamental statements of faith. Beyond these, we don’t show preference, partiality, or issue with denominational creeds such as the Westminster, the Augsburg, etc. Believers don’t have to abandon denominational distinctions to participate as members.
However, certain common tenets of faith are to be held safe and free of disbelief, negative critique, theological challenges, or dissention. These are:
- the Triune Nature of God in three Persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit
- that the Man Jesus is the Incarnate manifestation of the Son, as deity
- that genuine salvation is to be born from above (born again) resulting in the Holy Spirit indwelling
- that righteousness before God is through Grace, not of works, nor membership in a church
- that churches as collections of believers are Christ’s Body for fellowship, edification, and worship
- that the Bible is the Word of God in the whole and in the part
- that inspiration of the Scriptures was verbal (divine words spoken) and plenary (to all parts)
Membership in Sacred Harbor assumes that these beliefs are affirmed, but if excepted, are treated with respect and without criticism or challenge. It is highly possible and encouraged that believers of different confessions of faith can fellowship, edify one another and glorify God in those things we hold in common, and that the subjects and interests are plentiful.
